I just realized about a month ago when I photographed an own in a tree near out local community college that over the years I’ve taken pictures of thousands and thousands of birds … two have been owls.
I have been fortunate enough to find a Barred Owl very close to our house in Connecticut. He roosts in the same tree every day. Before I left to Costa Rica he was basically waiting to get further into mating season - there wasn't much to see. But I expect when I get back he'll be more active and I hope I can (safely, responsibly) get some nice photos. Stay tuned!
I would love to have more days where I run into owls. Very cool!
They are very few and far between!
